In Reply to: UPGRADE QUESTION: How to Move Data from Old HardDrive to New HardDrive? posted by HowDoYouDo on September 10, 19100 at 02:47:47:
To move your data you might want to try "PQDI",
it is a utility program (Power Quest Drive Image)
that will "ghost" your hard drive data from one to
another, you can also use it to set partitions and
change your file system : FAT, FAT32 or NTFS.
Set your original
drive as a master and your new drive as a slave.
Check your jumper settings on your drives if you
are running both from one cable on your primary
IDE controller.
You use PQDI from floppy, insert disk and when
prompt comes up, just type PQDI, and the graphical
interface will come up, you can then set your
request and partition sizes etc.
The program cost appx. $15 to $20.
*Or you may find it for free from a friend!
*Be careful with your RAID config, you may want to
ghost your hard drives in your old sytem then
configure RAID in your new system, after your data
is set on your new drives.
Hope this helps!
