: I have 2 HDs on my computer, one primary & one for data. Recently, I reformated the primary and redid Win 2K pro. Afterwards, my computer bios will not recognize the data drive. I see the light flashes upon boot up and I hear 2 clicks then the light goes out and the bios will not see a drive attached. I tried forcing the bios setting to recognize the drive but it won't. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the bios to recognize the HD, so I can get in and recover my datas. Computer is a 1Ghz Thunderbird on a Assus motherboard (case is about 2 yrs old). I am running win 2K pro. the data HD is a 20Gig quantum fireball....Any reccomendations as to what appz I can use to recover the data?..Any utilities out there to force the computer to recognize the data HD? I called 2 data recovery companies, the fee is outrageous, and from my descriptions, they both think that it might be the motor...I have never open up a HD, can anyone guide me as to replace the motor?...Thanks ahead.
Are the drives SCSI or IDE?
What happens if you disconnect the 1st HD? Does the BIOS see the other one?
Unless you have the training, tools, replacement parts and the required "Clean Room" you can not do any internal repairs to this drive.
