IF YOU HAVE GATEWAY OR DELL OR ANOTHER
BIG NAME COMPUTER AND SEE IF THEY HAVE A BIOS
SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THIER WEB SITE,,IF NOT YOU WOULD BE BETTR
OF PUTTING A NEW MOTHER BOARD IN IT,,THESE
ARE USUALLY UNDER $100,,IF YOU STAY WITH SAME CPU
AND THIS WAY USUALLY CAN USE SAME RAM AND RAM CHIPS,,IT'S NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A NEW BOARD FOR
PACKARD BELL OF COMPAQ.
NOTE IF YOU ATTEMPT A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE BIOS AND IT FAILS,,THE BOARD LIKELY WILL BE USLESS
I'VE UPDATED BOSES BUT HAVE NOT BACKED UP OLD
BIOS FOR RESTORE,,
EZ DRIVE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WRITES TO AND INSTALLS THE HARDRIVE SO YOU CAN USE A LARGE HARD DRIVE IN OLDER BIOS'ES,,THEY WORK BUT I
WON'T USE THEM MYSELF

: Seeking a way (e.g., utility) to determine if drives larger than 8.4gb
: would be supported by my BIOS.
: My BIOS is ..
: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG c.1984-1999 Award Software Inc
: Award Modular Plug&Play BIOS Extension v1.0a c.1998 Award Software Inc
: BIOS date and id 5/20/1999- i440BX-W83977-2A69KA1VC-LG
: If it will not support the larger drives, then must I replace the BIOS
: or can I run a program to update it?
:
: If I can update it, then is there any way to save the current
: contents just in case I want to go back?
