Doesn't the Western Digital wdac2420 Caviar an IDE drive?
Western Digital site says its interface is ATA. What exactly does that means?

Although Western Digital wrote the disk geometry on it I can not have anything
else beside an Acer Mate 433S to read the drive. Will Linux be able to access it
with some of its old hd drivers? If so, will that works even if I move the hd to
another machine and attach it to the mother board IDE connector?

Do note that both the wdac2420 and the Acer Mate 433S are very old hardware:
They are 420 MB disk and a 486 PC.
