DAN

: Please tell me how my hard drive could possibly have gotten damaged. I have damaged sectors, and when I run Scan Disk it can not fix the drive due to a data error encountered while reading the FAT drive. (Whatever THAT means!! I just copied it down from my error message.) Scan Disk will not fix it and the damaged cluster is "being used by the \JAVA\PACKAGES\OJTRVBON.ZIP file" (Again, whatever THAT is?!?!?) It finally stated that "one area of Drive C has sustained physical damages, and although might be caused by an isolated incident, it is often a sign of impending hardware failure". It told me to backup my files ASAP (which I tried to do but could save only my small personal files), and is now running scan disk each and every time I turn on my machine with the same 'can't fix it' results! Please help me. Thank you. cornmeal2
