Dan, it is quite evident that you haven't done a quantum hard drive rma lately. you described the usual procedure as quoted by quantum and maxtor, but in practice it doesn't work that way... here is what i found out today after an extended personal phone conversation, quantum HAD their rma facility in thailand or some country thereabouts, when they shifted the drives division over to maxtor they also shipped the return spares to the maxtor rma facility in MCAllen texas, but they shipped the drives on the slowest boat on the high seas. at this point who knows where the quantum replacement drives are at, only the captain and his crew really know for sure (their names are skipper, giligan, ginger ect.)...but the real rub is that the maxtor people don't have the hair to tell that to the rma receptients....that is all fine and dandy for them but what if you had a customer waiting for a replacement drive, and they were crawling up YOUR back, or you just wanted to get your machine up and running again, and all you get is blah blah blah from them and then some dufus like you dan, comes along and describes the procedure that you have been pulling your hair out over with absolutely no knowlege of the situation...I may just go poastal shortly, if I can just get the phone and the fax machine cooled down.. by the way i just received a seakrate (SEAGATE) hard drive rma that was sent in much later than quantum or maxtor rma's... and you had to top it of with that @NO QUIBBLE crap. sure they don't quibble with you, as long as you believe their blah blah blah bull crap...like you do, you dufus.

: : : : WELL I JUST GOT THE WORD FROM MAXTOR RMA THAT MY QUANTUM 1GB SCSI HARD DRIVES ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY WERE IN WARRANTY FOR AROUND ANOTHER 5-6 MONTHS BEFORE MAXTOR TOOK THEM OVER!!! DOES THAT MEAN THAT MAXTOR WON'T HONOR THE REMAINING WARRANTY ON THE QUANTUM DRIVES, ON ALL QUANTUM DRIVES, WHEN WILL THIS NO QUIBBLE WARRANTY POLICY WASH OVER INTO THEIR DRIVES?. I GOT RMA APPROVAL DOCS ON SEVERAL DRIVES BEFORE MAXTOR TOOK OVER, BUT MAXTOR HASN'T RETURNED THE DRIVES I SENT IN, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG THERE, MY PHONE IS WEARING OUT AND I JUST NOW MANAGED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE THAT MY FAX MACHINE STARTED. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THEY HAVE SUSPENDED THE CHECKING OF THE REMAINING WARRANTY PERIOD ON THE WEB FOR THE QUANTUM DRIVES. I AM MAD AS HELL, AND THOUGHT I MIGHT LOOK FOR AN ATTORNY TO SUE BOTH OF THOSE BASTARDS (MAXTOR AND QUANTUM). ANYBODY WANT TO JUMP ONBOARD AND WE'LL MAKE IT A CLASS ACTION SUIT. ARE THERE ANY WEBSITES THAT TRACK THESE WARRANTY DEADBEATS OR DO I NEED TO START ONE? COMMENTS MOST WELCOME..
