THE DRIVE SHOULD WORK FINE,,BUT !!!
YOUR BIOS MAY ONLY WORK UP TO AN 8 GIG,,
THATS THE BIOS LIMITATION ON ABOUT
2 OR 3 YEAR OLD MOTHER BOARDS,,,IF IT WILL
WORK WITH ANYTHING LARGER THAN AN 8 THEN IT WILL
WORK WITH A 30 GIG,,NEW MOTHER BOARDS AT
www.pricewatch.com ARE UNDER $100 AND YOU ALSO
[ SHOULD ] GET THE ATA100 SUPPORT.
JUST BE SURE TO GET CORRECT BOARD ATX HAS MOUSE AND KEY BOARD PLUGS BUILT ONTO THE MOTHER BOARD
WHERE AT MOTHER BOARD DOES NOT,,
A BIOS SOFTWARE UPGRADE MAY BE POSSIBLE IF
YOU HAVE THE PAPER WORK ON YOUR BOARD,,
CAREFULL HERE,,FLASH THE WRONG SOFTWARE AND YOU HAVE A DEAD BOARD,,
THEN YOU COULD USE A SOFT WARE OVER LAY THAT WILL SOMTIMES ALLOW A DRIVE TO WORK THAT
THE BIOS DOES NOT SUPPORT

: I am shopping for my first hard drive and am confused. The manual says my board "supports UDMA 33/66 IDE". I am having trouble finding a 66 drive and someday hopefully I can buy a better board, so I would like to get a 100 drive now and not have to get a new one down the road. Will an ATA 100 work? I think I understand that the drive will only be as fast as the interface so a 100 wouldn't live up to it's potential with this board (which doesn't worry me right now) but I don't want to see flames and smoke pouring from my computer because I picked the wrong drive! Please someone answer this very dumb question for me. Thanks!!!
