: I'm experiencing a lot of problems with Windows ME, things like icons suddenly swapping around, programs failing to open, lockups, and applications crashing!! This is all very sudden, eveything worked well till recently. I'm also getting a lot of activity noise coming from the HD (a Seagate ST10232A,just 18months old), even in screensaver mode. It seems to be searching for something. Either way it makes a hell of a racket. I've run defrag, diskclean, antivirus software, but each time I'm told there's nothing wrong. Could my problems be related to the HD, or do I need to look elsewhere?
