: Can a Toshiba Laptop Hard Drive (mk1301mav) be used with a standard hard disk in a PC ?

You can easily attach a normal harddrive from your desktop pc to any notebook (2,5") HDD.

I did it with a Toshiba MK6411 MAT and a MK1403 MAV.

But you need a 44 Pin to 40 Pin adaptor so you can plug it in your 2,5" HDD.
In Germany it costs about 15,- to 20,- DM.

Then you hav to know that you can't jumper it to slave mode. They only work in master mode. (if anybody knows better I would be glad to know)

So I do opperate my normal HD in slave mode and have the adapter ready for attaching my notebook hd. Then I have much faster access to the data. As the HDD is settled in a little carrybox that can be disconnected quickly.

Hope it helps
Oli
