I am attempting to use a Micropolis 1528D 1.53GB drive on a computer.

I have tried several systems, and I've had no luck.

I've looked at the jumper information from this website, and
generally found them to be in "good" positions. I did however, change
the jumper for the spindle start so that it spins all the time.

I know my SCSI adapter to be working well, since I removed the hard
drive, and substituted a CD Rom drive, which came up fine.

The cable I am using already has a terminator on it, therefore I
believe that the settings for termination are irrelevant, since the
drive does not have the Resistor Network (RN9) plugged-in.

If it is the only thing plugged-in to the cable, does the SCSI ID
make any difference?

I have seven of these drives. I have tried a couple. They each
perform the same way.

On one computer, I'm running Windows NT 4.0. The other computer has
no other hard drive, and also has on-board SCSI. The (empty) computer
boots fine from floppies, yet FDISK cannot see any fixed drives.

Even though the connectors are the same, is it possible that the SCSI
adapter, an NEC 53C825 is not meant to operate a Micropolis 1528D ?

The motherboard with the on-board SCSI runs the CD fine, as well.

What I am doing wrong?
