: Old computer (Compaq 486 ). System info: Compaq sys Bios 486C, Compaq video Bios V3, Numeric coprocessor not installed, Drive A 1.44 Meg. 3.5 inch, Disk drive enabled, Disk boot enabled, Primary controller type 50 ( 121.4 meg ), Base memory 640 Kbytes, Extended memory 3072 Kbytes, Reserved memory 384 Kbytes, Total memory 4096 Kbytes, Serial #1-com3-irq4, Serial #2-com2-irq3, parrell port-Lpt1-irq7, System power-high, Primary monitor-Vga color, 1024x768 video modes-non interlaced-72mhz, Options Roms-c0000-c5fff c6800-c6fff. When I boot the computer using every sys disk I have, it takes me to the safe menue. No matter what type of booting I pick,I always recieve one of the following messages....need to load (vfd.vxd ) or Himen system missing or Msmouse.vxd missing or corrupt. Then the computer locks up. Also When I try to use my A Drive or CDROM Drive it does not work. With disk in either drive Dir command is not reconized. I know somebody has the fix,please help.
