Here's what you can try: if your software copy can create exact image of an HD then use it to copy the old HD to the New HD.

After that done, set your new HD as the Master Drive, and set your old HD as the slave Drive (jumper settings on both HDs), connect your new HD on the Master Cable and leave the old HD out.

Boot up your computer and set your BIOs to indicate the new HD drive as the first boot drive, reboot. If your computer boots with your new HD that means you got all your old HD data plus the OS. Then you can connect your old HD as a slave drive, reformat it to free up space.

These all depense on what your "software copy to copy HD" can really do.

: Need advice please! I have a G6-333 Gateway with 8.4 gig hd. It is full. I bought a Western Digital 20 gig ultra ata/100 7200rpm, and would like to install. How can I have 2 hard drives and make the faster WD one the primary without losing all my existing data, and make the best use out of two hard drives? What is easiest and safest way to upgrade? (it comes with software copy to copy HD as well?) I appreciate any help you can give me. THANKS~! Judy
