As both hard drives are partitioned as Primary, only one will be 'visible' to DOS / Windows at any one time.
To see the data on the old, 'fired' drive, you could use Partition Magic which has the ability to convert Primary to Logical which would give you a D: drive with your data on it.
Partition Magic can change partitions but without losing your data.
