: : I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT MESSAGE BEFORE,,ARE YOU USING A BOOTABLE FLOPPY WITH FDISK FROM SAME OPERATING SYSTEM,,WHAT OPERATING SYSTEM ARE YOU RUNNING,,
: : IS THIS A SCSI OR IDE,,YOU MAY WONT TO TRY ONE OF THE ORIGIONAL HARD DRIVR'S DISK MANAGERS
: : SOFTWARE TO DO WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO WITH FDISK. MOST HAVE THEN FOR FREE ON THERE WEB SITES,,YOU HAVE TO HUNT AROUND ON THE SITE TO FIND IT,,USUALLY UNDER SUPPORT\DOWNLOADS

: :

: : : Trying to fdisk my hard drive and get msg that fdisk cannot do it as it as my hard drive is not locked/ any ideas.

: If you're drive is SCSI, you might have to do a
: low level format, which would be available to you when
: you get the SCSI banner during boot process. Press
: Control and the letter 'A' together, that will take you
: to your SCSI cards utilities, one of which would be a low level
: format.
: Hope I've been of some help. I know the frustration
: you might be going through. Good luck.

uhm, if you are using a win95 boot floppy, do "lock" in the prompt. should fix the problem. this is due to w95 not allowing softwre to do direct hardware access to the drive.
