Hi,
About a year ago my P.C. became so full of redundant DLL's etc that I did a
backup to D: and formatted and reinstalled everything on C: (running
Windows 98 se with a floppy, a physical 6Gb hard drive (C:), a physical 6Gb
hard drive (D:), a CD (E:), and a CD RW (F:) Normally everything, .exes and
data are on C, and D is just used for backups.
I managed it ok (just) but it was quite frightening! It would have been
nice not to just have a backup of C:, but to have a "useable copy" of C: so
that I could look at the settings etc. as I was rebuilding it.
My PC is a mess again. I am told there is a product (Drive Image) which may
help. Or:
Is there any way that I can "put" C; on to either D: or my CD RW drive as a
bootable drive. My idea is that I could then format C: and as I reinstalled
the programs, I could look at D: to make sure I had all the settings and
passwords. I know I could "copy" the C drive to the CD RW, but how do I make it (or D, if I use that) boot instead of it booting from C.
You'll have gathered that you'll have to talk me through this slowly!
Many thanks,
John
