I'd say it's the OS and the BIOS. You need to have your machine detect the HD (i.e. configure it in BIOS). Most computer can auto detect your HD with the proper size. Otherwise, you can manually enter the numbers (head, cylindar, etc) in your BIOS config.

Then it's up to the OS to support your however large HD. I think most common OS will support that size.

: I have an old pentium 100 mhz machine.
: I have access to a 30 gig drive, at a price.
: A good price if the 30 gigs is available to me.
: A bad price if I can't access all of the drive.
: I don't mind partitioning the drive to say 3 x 10 gig partitions.
