: hi
: my original drive is the NEC. i've tried to install the Quantum, but my machine doesn't seem to know it's there, regardless of how i try to access it. does the NEC need to have the jumpers set to master? and if so, could anyone tell me what the jumper settings would be?
: a response to my e-mail would be greatly appreciated

J,

Have you tried to jumper the drive as
"cable select"? These options are listed on the
disk drive manufacturer's websites. Cable select
is a method of master/slave "jumper" setting
where special cables are used and master/slave is
determined by the position of the drive on the
cable. That is, the first drive on the cable might
be the master and the second one the slave or
the otherway around. Depends on the the PC
designer's idea of doing it.
