I have a Fujitsu mpc3032 3 GB hdd and run W95b on it. It has always seemed to thrash more than my other systems. Using System Monitor it has up to 300 page faults/sec where my other systems have up to 200. I've tried it in systems with 32 MB and 64 MB RAM. I've tried fiddling with defrag, virt memory settings, vcache settings.
Then I tested it with a simple DOS analyzer called Syscheck. While the Fujitsu is specified to have a buffer of 256 KB, Syscheck indicates zero buffer, "unkown" buffer port and "unkown" buffer sector reads. My other eight hdd from five different manufacturers all show the correct buffer size, ports and sector reads when tested with Syscheck.
When I saw that, I assumed the buffer was broken so Fujitsu was kind enough to send me a RMA, but it had the SAME results. Anyone know what's going on or any other programs that measure IDE controller buffer performance????
