Okay, I'm a newbie to this aspect of owning a computer! I have a PowerMac 7100/66 with an upgrade to a 264 Mhz G3 processor. I also
wanted to upgrade the hard drive, as the one that came with the computer was only 250 M. I found an IBM DFMS S2F 2.16 G drive cheap,
and it was an SCSI 50-pin, so I figured it would fit my machine. It did, but when I use my system install disk (I run Mac OS 8.5), it doesn't
recognize the drive and says "Cannot modify disc with non 512-byte sectors." I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, but from what I've
read on IBM's web site (the parts I can understand) there is a way to configure the drive the way you need it. My problem is I don't understand
their techno-speak, and I cannot find an explanation anywhere on how you work jumpers to configure it. I mean, I see the pins, but what do I
do with them? I've sent an e-mail to IBM's help desk, but who knows when they're going to get back to me. Can anyone help me? I didn't
spend a lot of dough, but have I wasted what I spent?
Thanks in advance to kind souls...
