THINK A 4 GIG WAS ABOUT ALL THE 486 WOULD SEE,,
A NEW BOARD IS AROUND $75 IT WOULD HAVE A LARGE
HARD DRIVE SUPPORT,,BUT TO SEE THE BIGGER
HARD DRIVE YOU NEEW WINDOWS 98 RUNNING 32 BIT.
IT WOULD BE O SLOW ON A 486 80,,YOU MAY ALSO CONSIDER USING A SOFTWARE OVER LAY THAT SHOULD
MAKE THE DRIVE WORK

: What is the largest hard drive you can put in a 486/80? It currently has a 1 gig, tried to install a 10 gig. Cmos sees it. When you start the computer with the 10gig it shows the hard drive then stops. No matter what type of controller card you hook it to. It never makes it to a: or c: to boot. As soon as you disconnect it works fine.
